Cherry Blossoms and Tulips – Beautiful Spring Flowers at Descanso Gardens

March 4, 2025 update – cherry blossoms and tulips are blooming at Descanso Gardens!

If you love Spring flowers, don’t miss the cherry blossoms and tulips at the beautiful Descanso Gardens in Southern California near Los Angeles! It’s a botanical garden full of beautiful flowers almost year-round, and is especially beautiful in the Spring with cherry blossoms, tulips, magnolias, camellias, irises, lilacs, daffodils and much more! This garden is perfect for flower lovers and photographers! In this post, I’ll share more information about this garden, including the best time to see these stunning Spring flowers!

Spring Flowers at Descanso Gardens

Descanso Gardens is located about 20 minutes north downtown Los Angeles, in the city of La Cañada Flintridge. Since Ken and I are members of the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley, we have free reciprocal admissions to this garden through the American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admissions Program and took advantage by visiting twice during our stay.

We were delighted by all the flowers in bloom here, including lots of tulips, cherry blossoms and some magnolias in their charming Japanese Garden. March is definitely a wonderful time to visit this garden! I especially enjoyed their Japanese Garden with the arched bridge and the koi-filled stream next to the tea house, all accented by pink blooming cherry and plum blossoms.
